Welcome to the Geography page – lots of fun activities to try and websites to browse

Learn about geography!
Do you love to learn more about the world we live in? Volcanoes, mountains, oceans, famous landmarks.. How good are you at quizzes? Check out these super websites and brush up on your geography skills. Perhaps you could design a fact file or an information leaflet about something new you’ve learnt- enjoy!

Where in the world?

Have a look in your cupboards and see if you can explore where your food was grown or traditionally from? Eg, coffee grown in Brazil. Using Google Earth or a world map, can you find the country and label?

Can you explore what the weather is like there? What language they speak? what continent it is in? You may like to watch an episode of Go Jetters or research on the internet.

Virtual Safari

See the link below for a safari around a South African game reserve watching animals in the wild. The live stream is from 8-11am and 5.30-8.30pm each day. South Africa is an hour ahead of us so the evening drive will probably be in the dark which can show how different animals interact at different times. There is commentary from the driver so you can learn some interesting facts about the animals they find. The streams are also saved on their Youtube page to access at any time of the day.

You could:
Draw/paint pictures of the animals you see.
Collect all the information you have gathered and create fact files.
Describe the setting of the wild.
Compare features of the animals you have seen.
Design your own safari jeep.
Create junk models of animals.
Create your own binoculars, tent and safari outfit.
Take the family on a virtual safari drive in your living room.

Listen to Miss Da Costa read The Snail and Whale and see if you can complete the tasks at the end.
